-
Keep your CV simple. Your CV should preferably be no more than 2 sides of an A4 page. Save the real detail for your interviews.
-
Ensure your CV contains your full name, ID number, contact numbers, e-mail address and drivers licence details. These personal details should appear first on your CV.
-
Ensure your CV contains qualification details, eg qualification name, where acquired, date acquired. Include detail of computer systems used. These details should follow your personal details.
-
Give previous employment details from current first, working backwards. Give job titles, job specifications/experience and dates of employment.
-
Ensure your CV contains details of two referees. Any good recruiter will ask your permission before contacting referees.
-
Ensure your CV contains NO ERRORS. Remember that employers are looking for accuracy and attention to detail, whatever position you may be applying for. CV’s with errors will not get a second look.
-
Be honest! Employers will carry out qualification checks, criminal background checks and credit checks. Be honest with your recruiter and prospective employer from the very beginning of the job search process. It creates a better impression than unwanted surprises later!
-
Be positive! Do not run down previous employers at interviews. This can give a negative impression of your character.
-
Remember to smile and give a good firm handshake at interviews and dress appropriately.
